A small claims demand letter is a final written request for payment or action, sent before you file a case. It states what you are owed, why, and what follows if the other side does nothing.

Confirm whether you are dealing with an individual or an entity. Suing a person for a company debt, or the reverse, causes the same problem as getting the name wrong.

Get the address right as well. You need somewhere the letter and, later, the court papers can actually reach them.

Where several parties might be responsible, work out who you are genuinely claiming against rather than naming everyone and hoping.
