A good answer names something real, shows it is developmental rather than disqualifying, and describes progress. A manager who says the applicant was reluctant to delegate, then explains how that changed after they took on a larger team, has given the committee something genuinely useful.

Forms typically combine two things: a grid where you rate the applicant against a set of competencies, and two or three written questions with word limits. Some schools share a common set of questions, which means one carefully written set of answers can be adapted rather than rewritten.
Be deliberate with the grid. Rating an applicant at the top of every category tells a committee nothing and can read as inattentive, so let the ratings vary in a way that matches what you say in the prose.
